"Take the 401 to Guelph. Go north on Highway 6 South."
While accurate, these directions can be confusing to some over the phone.
Glass Works thought that a map showing you where Rosen Continental has sited its new glass processing facility would be helpful.
It's a brand new facility with lots of capacity. Rosen Continental expects to have an opportunity to host an open house towards the end of July.
Stay tuned to Rosen Continental Inc. for your invitation.
John Mullinder of the Paper & Paperboard Packaging Environment Council (PPEC) is enthusiastic about the response to ABC. The first 250 copies of the Activity-Based Costing Report went very quickly. Already another 250 copies of the second printing have been distributed. Rick Findlay of First Consulting, who wrote the report, has acknowledged a great deal of interest, particularly from managers of material recovery facilities (MRFs).
Some of the benefit of ABC comes simply from a critical eye or a fresh look at an old challenge. Common sense suggestions include asking operators on the floor of the processing facility how much time they spend handling each material. These people know the answers, but in many cases just haven't been asked the question.
Another key benefit of ABC is that it helps people realize that they are handling a product, not sorting waste.
Perhaps it would help if recycling stopped being looked upon as glorified garbage and started being recognized as raw material, it might be viewed as being more valuable.
It's just a thought.
