Consumers Glass has been involved in educating the Canadian public on environmental issues for the last nine years. While our interest has focused on recycling and our primary delivery agent has been through Glass Works/ Recy-Verre we have participated in other initiatives.
We have also founded a process to assist Canadian youth in learning how to prepare for a sustainable future through the Annual Conservation Video Contest. This effort is now entering its eighth year and is focusing on Climate Change, a global challenge. Visit www.glassworks.org and click on the contest logo for details. Under development is
KIDS NET, a new feature on the Glass Works net site. It will host information on recycling geared to youth.
We have assisted with three other activities this year. Robocycle is an initiative of Niagara Recycling from St. Catharines, Ontario. Robocycle is a fully animated recycling robot. He stands 49 inches tall, 26 inches wide. This little champion weighs in at 130 lbs. Robocycle made his debut at the Science Centre November 1, during Ontario's Waste Reduction Week. Robocycle will be one of our guests on KIDS NET.
"Career in a Package" is a training programme for teachers lead by the Packaging Association of Canada. Call PAC at 416-475-6647 for more details.
"Project Reclaim" is an infomercial that was placed in a school magazine called "POP". Consumers Glass was one of a number of sponsors supporting this awareness activity.
Why have we continued to invest in education? It is the collective actions of individuals that will ultimately drive the success, or failure, for a sustainable future. Each one of us, whether at work, home or at play must "think globally, act locally, AND take personal responsibility".
